if anyone has any tips on how to filter out people who crosspost to thee groups: soc.culture.jordan, soc.culture.egyptian, soc.culture.iraq, soc.culture.arabic
Let me know please..
Also how do you filter out the clowns who keep changing email address to symbols like <.> and "="
I must admit my reading and posting experience has been enhanced since I added a few address's to the filter..
It seems you need nFilter, see:
http://www.nfilter.org/faq.html
I haven't tried it though.
There are easy ways to filter crossposts in *nix type readers by writing regular expression on message headers (e.g. /^Newsgroups.*,/:j) in KILL files which will look for any message that has a "," in the newsgroup field, indicative if a xpost.
The way nFilter works is that you would install it on your PC then you configure it to access your news sever and then configure your news client (Thunderbird) to access nFilter instead of the news server. You add filtering rules to nFilter. nFilter relays your news request and supresses what you don't want to see.
If you need help with it, let me know.
