The fuller show appeared in the following 6, 15-minute chunks, both
are about the DEFEATED and forlorn German people, in the tens of
millions, with hundreds of thousands aimlessly wandering everywhich
way, scavenging for any thing that was edible, looking for family
members.... because virtually all major cities and towns were bombed
into rubbles.... and immediately after their surrender, Germany was
divided into 4 zones (French, American, British, and Soviets), too.
So you could see the TOTAL defeat and humiliation of the German
people.... in some ways this was even more defeated and more
humiliated than after WW I, because this was ther Germans SECOND
defeat in 2 consecutive World Wars!
HUNDREDS of thousands of women --- and possibly men and boys, too,
though never a major discussion --- were raped. I have seen the brief
footage of some of the women --- and young girls as young as 13-15 ---
raped, repeatedly by not just Russians but Americans, British, and
French.... and all the Germans could do was just bow their heads and
suffer.... and it's very tragic and hauntingly sad....

Now, this last short series below here, titled "Germany's War --
Hitler's Last Army".... and it's about the last series of struggle
between the onslaughtering Soviets, as they enter Berlin... and the
youngest and one of the more respected German generals during the last
years of Nazi Germany, General Wenck and how he was demanded by
Hitler, in the last few weeks and then days and hours, to return from
the Western Front to "liberate Berlin".... but Wenck's objective,
according to the few remaining officers who served as very young
assistant under Wenck back then but who were now in the 80s and
90s...
.....Wenck's objective was to trace his steps back to the outskirt of
Berlin, to allow the last major group of army surrounded by the 1M
Soviet armies to "break out" and move toward Wenck's group, in the
West, so they all could escape to SURRENDER to the Americans, which
DID happen, saving tens of thousands of former Nazi soldiers virtually
all of whom would have been marched to Siberia, with no more than
10-50% or so returning 10-20 years later....

picture... At this point, you even feel sorry for these Nazi soldiers,
when you know THEY KNEW they were staring at defeat and very likely
DEATH in the face, those last few days and hours....

The OVER-ALL point here is:
even from the very depth of defeat, misery, hunger and humiliation ---
like what happened to BOTH Germany and Japan, in the mid 1940s --- you
COULD RISE very rapidly to the forefront, to be leaders, as BOTH did,
by the 1970s and 80s, when both started exporting automotive and
precise engineering tools and devices to the United States.... that
is, IF YOU HAVE INTELLIGENT AND EDUCATED LEADERS....
Yes, America had the "Marshal Plan" and spent hundreds of billions in
both Germany and Japan, including occuyping them for years, and
dictating to them how to live, how to set-up a government.... and LAOS
AND VIETNAM did not receive any such help, after America bombed them
back to the Stone Age.... but also remember America was the LOSER in
the Vietnam War, not the winner as sit was in WW II!
So, as the WINNERS Laos and Vietnam were on their own, to enjoy their
"victories" over poor Americans who put their tales behind their legs
and ran home. You can't have it both ways, by saying, "Yes, but the
Americans helped the Japanese and Germans" and also say, "We beat the
crap out of the Americans, those evil imperialist dogs!"
WITH the Americans, within 40 years, BOTH Germany and Japan --- two
deeply humiliated nations and people --- rose to become the top 5 move
powerful, successful, and tehnological countries on earth.
Without Americans, victorious Laos and Vietnam mired in poverty,
corruption, backwardness... and 40 years later, they remain in the
very 1/2 to 1/3 of the poorest countries on earth....
