Re: Thanouxay

Besides the obvious fact that the top spokesperson of a nation can
truly take on and off his government hat, and do as he pleases without
any national consequences (or the perception and image of such
consequences)...a simple examination of the times of the day which
Yong does most of his postings will reveal a thing or two. Many of
Yong's postings are during the day (in Laos), business hours for such
government employees. Check out all the times of Yong's postings, and
compare them with the real time in Laos. It's interesting.

Crazy Larry, your credibility in Yong's defense is as good as all the
trash comments you've been making. So, how do you expect anyone to
believe you now, even when you seem quite genuine and serious?

Same with Yong, how can you have any credibility as the standing
official speaking on behalf of your nation and your government, when
the same person, in his true personal capacity, trash talks and
reveals the darkest inhibitions to the world? And vice versa, when you
are Yong as a top government official?

No one is demanding that Yong NOT be himself. No one has been able to
influence or deter his right to self-expression, and therefore, Lao's
self-expression to the world. He has, is, and can be anyone he likes.
It's just a fact of life that he has at least one internet alias, this
so-called Thanouxay. It's just a fact of life that he is the highest
ranking Lao official to directly engage the international community in
endless internet name calling sessions, and officially as well as
unofficially defends and promotes the policies, program, and anything
and everything having to do with the nation of Laos.

Crazy Larry and Yong, what part of "public official" don't you
understand? It is my understanding that the top spokesperson for a
nation is the most public official of any public official!

That being the case, why do you even attempt to make a mockery of your
own sad situation? You said:

"we should honor his request and let him be himself (an individual in
a non-offical capacity) as Thanouxay and not Yong
Chantalangsy (a non-individual public servant in an official
capacity)."

That's like asking the American people to allow for Tony Snow to get
on TV and swear at his audience and offer death threats to his
critics, as "an individual in a non-unofficial capacity", then the
next moment, he gives a press conference on President Bush's Iraq war
policy. You really think that will go well with his constituents and
the international community? He'd be fired, if not immediately and
harshly reprimanded for dragging the integrity of his office (not just
a job) through the mud. But it seems Laos is quite content with Yong
displaying all their flaws and behaviors (knowingly as well as
unknowingly) for the world to see.

But, I suppose you might be right, being the Crazy Larry that you are.
Yong is no Tony. And Tony is no Yong. Perhaps they're truly worlds
apart. They have their own standards, I suppose. I mean, Yong is just
a spokesperson, albeit the top spokesperson, for the last communist
country on Earth. Tony is just a spokesperson for President of the
United States of America. For Yong both the person and the official,
it is perhaps okay for him to do what he does...and we all should help
perpetuate that image of him because it's no big deal. Plus, no one
around the world gives a hoot about it anyway, right?

How sad!

Yong is Yong is Yong is Yong is Yong, no matter how you say it, how
you define it, or how you choose to believe it.

I do believe I have read before that Ai Yong has already posted that
as 'Thanouxay' he is posting here in SCL in a non-official capacity
where he can "let his hair down" and "roll up his sleeve" like the
rest of us. He said that when he holds a press confrence or speaks at
official functions then he is speaking in an official capacity.

Basically, Thanouxay's statements are his own and Yong Chanthalangsy's
statements durring official capacity are those of the states.

Therefore I think we should honor his request and let him be himself
(an individual in a non-offical capacity) as Thanouxay and not Yong
Chantalangsy (a non-individual public servant in an official
capacity).

I hope I was clear, if not I apologize.
