Laos Today: A Lao official says Laos cannot meet its goals of opium free by year-end

Well.. the US should know many Laotian can't
cure with modern medicine except raw opium or
unless the US willing to put more money for research.

Lao administration postpones the date of declaration of Laos as a
country totally free of opium by the end of this year to early next
year due to the fact that Laos still needs to conduct the survey in
detail one more time throughout the country. Besides, Laos still needs
at least 30 tons of opium every year to produce its own medicines.
