Political and philosophical theory

Sabaydii,
First, for those who consistently follow my series on the Lao
revolution, I would like to let you know I haven’t forgotten you yet.
That means I will go on writing whenever I can spare for that big
project. At the meantime, since political and philosophical theory is
what I am most interested right now, I would like to spend some time
writing it too. Besides, by writing the much-needed theory, it will
help me put my writing in a proper framework.
Second, it is always my yearning to write a political/philosophical
theory to make sense of what is going on now and foresee what is going
to happen next. Given that I am intellectually inclined, it would be
quite a waste of my intellect if I don’t proceed to systematize my
thinking for the sake of intellect itself and, most importantly, for
the benefit of the new Lao political and philosophical theorists.
Third, I think that this writing will be quite intellectually
stimulating for our inclined intellectually minded Lao who want to
engage with the great minds of the West and East alike (mostly
philosophical for the latter). Hopefully, if I can express myself well,
my offspring will ultimately come to know which intellectual background
their father came from and should they decide to follow my path, they
will be equipped with the proper framework.
Lastly, what I am mostly interested to discuss is the liberal tradition
of the West (here, it includes the current conservative as well) along
with the dual concept of liberty and equality as well as the role of
capitalism. Not the least, I would like to engage the readers with
Marxism, where it is discredited and where it is still pertinent not
only today but the future as well. The key political philosophers I
want to address in this discussion are Plato, Locke, Rousseau, Marx
and, to the surprise of most of you, Freud. And to some extent, I will
discuss Socrates, Aristotle, Hobbes, Machiavelli, Mill, Thoreau,
Wittgenstein and the existentialists such as Sartre. Here and there, I
will throw in Buddha, Confucius and Lao-Tzu.
Laokao
p.s. This endeavor might not conduce to the bread-and-butter which our
country or any country is daily facing with but, at least, it will give
a proper framework for any country, any people who aspire to lead the
virtuous path that the best of Western tradition (and to some extent,
the East tradition) can offer.
