I thought you were just being insulting. I am going off reporting when I ask a question. That part of the world is very complex and not well understood. If I see some thing in print, I don't automatically believe it the press is so poor at conveying information and I like to double check assertions I see.
The reason that
American's are losing their soldiers in Iraq are because of people
like you. You have no idea where you are sending the soldiers and why.
You knew really well that USA invaded Iraq just because of the oil. Do
you think that 3000+ American's lives were well worted for dirty oil?
I have to disagree, I know too many people who have been there and their mission is to defeat the terrorist. The objective of the terrorist is to force as many people as possible to be enslaved in their twisted view of Islam. The US went to Iraq in 1991 and we were told how horrible Saddam Hussein was. I went down there and participated in that adventure. We called on the people of Iraq to rise up and then we abandoned them. 4,000 in four years is less than we loose soldiers in accidents. It is not all about oil and the fighting is not national liberation or all of that. The terrorist tactics doesn't not bear that out they will kill who ever they can get their hands on. We have changed out tactics and now local leaders are lining up to get US protection against the terrorists. Even the 1920 brigade is tired of the terrorists.
Why can you not see the truth. Your government (the President) is
screwing your people big time by chewing the word "Freedom and
Democracy". How do you expect the bring "Freedom & Democracy" if you
sell $100 billion arms to terrorist states in the region which this
does not even include Turkey. Saudia Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Iran,
Egypth and etc are all getting bulks some arms from the USA. While
Turkey is getting doubled the arms of any other countries in the
region.
During the 1980s, USA openly supported the so called (at the time),
freedom loving Afgans (Al-Qaida) and if you remember Sylvestor Stalone
made one of his RAMBO films in Afghanistan which showed Al-Qaida and
Taliban fighters like the angels who were fighting against the evil
Comminizm.
That was more about the cold war and we did support those fighting the soviets. I do think the history is more complex. We saw comunism as a bigger threat than Islam.
Again During the 1970s and 1980's USA openly supported Saddam Regime
in Iraq. USA turned blind eye to killing of hundreds thousands of
Kurdish lives.
I will admit during the cold war it is the bad guy on our side rather than the bad guy n their side.
I am sure, you know more about the latin America, so i will leave you
to search this.
It is complex down there as well. It is getting better for the most part. Sorry I have to go and can't keep responding. I do like this rational conversation. The Kurds were taken into account in the invasion and the US assumed risks on behalf of the Kurds. I know people in the briefing room who told me that we didn't go through Turkey because of their demands on the Kurds and we wanted them as allies.
