I think the problem is that some folks take environmentalism to an
extreme, making it the center of their lives instead of just something
we do to avoid waste and destruction. There's nothing in the Torah to
suggest that we ought to leave the planet looking untouched, as if
we'd never lived here. It's clearly not in our own interests to waste
stuff or to ruin the earth, but God wouldn't have given us stewardship
over the planet if He hadn't meant for us to make some changes along
the way. The hard part is making sure that the changes are good ones
and not bad.
I am just gonna put this here because I wan't to also make a couple of
comments on your post.
I understood what Cindy was saying right off the bat and couldn't
agree more. I feel like the enviromental issue is way politicized as
well, when it really shouldn't have to be.
We should be good stewards of the earth, not for any religious or
political reason, but because it is just smart practice. In politics
it someone that is green is usually a watermelon..... Green on the
outside, red on the inside.... For anyone interested in being green
for the right reasons, Oprahs website has good information on what
people can do to help.

I suppose that can be argued both ways, since we know that when the
oil runs out, they're going to revert to nomadic barbarians with
nothing to sustain them or to give the Western world reason to support
them. Hence, the sooner we use up the oil, the sooner what passes for
"civilization" there will decline and disappear. OTOH, we could do
better for ourselves by developing alternative sources of energy and
more economical ways of using it, thus avoiding ruining our own lives
in the process. When the weather is nice here, I'm able to enjoy my
motorcycle (60 MPG) and my bicycle (50 miles per sandwich) and leave
the car at home.

The city just discontinued charging fares on publicbuses during the summer, and a lot more people are using public
transportation instead of driving now.
I've gotta admit, though, that what I understand even less than Jews
driving gas guzzlers is Jews driving big Mercedes SUV gas guzzlers.
Have they already forgotten the tens of thousands of Jews used as
slave laborers in the Mercedes factories?
I am not that impressed myself with German cars. I think it is clear
that the Japanese make a better car. It would take a 10 cylinder Audi
to beat me in 0-60 and my car is only a 3.5 liter!
A complete and utter lie.
The Audi RS3 S back will beat doodoo's infiniti. Let alone the RS4, which does 0-60 in 4.8seconds.
The Japanese also spared Jewish lives in WW2.....
