Engaging in homosexual acts most definitely is a "choice" and it is
clear (to me, at least) that this is what Rabbi Boteach is referring
to when he mentions "two unattached consenting adults in a
relationship". Without homosexual acts, "consenting" doesn't come
into the equation.
Frankly, you stating that "consenting individuals themselves and society
as a whole" will be harmed "is absurd" -- or do you believe in proof by
assertion?
Equally frankly, your attempted refutation (by assertion) is absurd.
Not equally. See below.
Flagrant promotion of homosexuality in society can only harm the
conventional family structure,
Would you care to elucidate the mechanism by which it would do so?
There *are* forces buffeting the conventional family structure, but
they have nothing to do either with homosexuality or its promotion
(which doesn't appear to be "flagrant" to me). If anything, growing
acceptance of gay people is enabling them to create family structures
that are close to conventional, as such couples have or adopt
children.
which has been the basis of Jewish life
since time immemorial. And when two homosexuals engage in homosexual
acts, how can they not be harming themselves and each other mentally?
It is, to put it simply, going against the grain.
Repeated detailed studies have shown that homosexuality is almost
entirely biologically based. Hence, their _not_ engaging in those acts
is "going against the grain".
Still, Morris is correct that "engaging in homosexual acts most
definitely is a choice," even though having such "grain" is not.
What proof can you present that one
"chooses to be a homosexual" and would be psychologically harmful to
themselves.
I think the evidence is to the contrary.
