"Israel Media Attacks Haaretz Writer's 'Demonization' of Israel"

I thought this was a really interesting article. The liberal Israeli
newspaper _Ma'ariv_ accuses one of the regular _Ha'aretz_ columnists
(Gideon Levy) of being anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian. Levy even
justifies Hamas' Kassam rockets attacks as being a Hamas defense
mechanism implemented only when Israelis assassinate Hamas
terrorists.

"Israel’s Hebrew-language Maariv newspaper published an unusually
scathing attack on Haaretz after the London Independent interview with
its columnist Gideon Levy, “the most hated man in Israel,” according
to the London newspaper.

Levy has been the guiding light of the left-wing newspaper that has
waged a war against the “occupation” as the cause of most, if not all
of all, of Israel’s problems with Arabs. The newspaper also has
championed further concessions to the Palestinian Authority

Encouraging the growth of non-Jewish populations is in line with a
left-wing agenda to prevent the likelihood of a religious Jewish
majority in Israel in the near future.

Levy also told the Independent about how IDF soldiers allegedly are
"trigger-happy… like having a cigarette. They didn’t shoot just one
bullet…. They shoot at the Palestinians like this on a daily basis.
They do it every day."

Yemini asks, "Every day? The number of Palestinian fatalities in the
past year, with the current security situation, approaches zero. Most
Palestinians, most of the time, do not see an Israeli soldier....

The author of that article in Maariv, Ben-Dror Yemini is (true to his
name), an extreme right winger, and no more represents the "liberal"
Maariv, than Gideon Levi - who is indeed at the extreme left of the
spectrum, is the "guiding light" of  Haaretz. Incidentally, Haaretz -
while left-leaning - has three regular columnists who are nearly as
far to the right as Yemini.
I cannot hope to educate the British or America press, but I can at
least urge the less biased posters on SCJM to assign the views
expressed in an aricle to its author, not to the newspaper in which it
is published.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One major difference. Yemini is NOT representative of Maariv. Levi IS
representative of Haaretz.

(For readers of the NY Slimes, Yemini is to Maariv, as Brooks is to the NY
Slimes.)

Abe, my post was addressed to the _less biased_ posters on SCJM, not
to you.

Just out of curiosity, do you feel that you are biased?
