Whatever you want to call the area, I ask the question "who is living
there now?".

Mostly Arabs.  But there are also about 250,000 Jews.

The area is overwhelmingly Arab, whether you want to call
them Palestinian or Kookamongan.  Do those PEOPLE have a right to have
their own government?  Yes or no?

Oh, I agree that the Arabs have the right to their own government,
even though I don't see them as a separate, distinct nation

I do not agree that they have a right to their own government.
They do not have a country - they never have - and the are not
a separate people - & never have been.

I partially agree with you. But the fact is, whether they are a
separate nation or not, they exist and have the right to live
somewhere and to have a government of their choice.

How can they have a right to both of those things? No one has a
right to both, and many many people don't have a government of their
choice, even in the US. Do you think people who hate abortion want
the government, national or state, that permits this? They would
eagerly set up a different government. Or the people who think they
are overcharged on property tax? Many of them would rather have a
different goverment that raised its money through sales tax or income
tax and little or none through property tax. Or the people who want
unlimited guns but live in places where there a gun prohibitions.? Or
the people in Alaska who belong to the Alaska Independence Party,
whose goal is for Alaska to secede from the US. which will never
happen in their lifetime?

Do you think American Indians want to be governed by the USA or the
states in which they reside. Sure where enough of them live together,
thye have tribal councils, but the authority of those councils is very
limited, and doesn't override a host of US laws that they don't want.

You don't actually mean live somewhere and have a right to a
government of their choice. You mean live where they are now and
have a right to a government of their choice.

I just don't want them living anywhere near Israel.

Aha. Maybe I was arguing with sarcasm but I don't regret it. It
needed to be said.

Just because they hate Jews does not mean thney should be
allowed to "cecede" from Israel - they just just have to get out,
like any other people who hate their government for no real reason.

Susan

We agree. Yes, they should leave. Let them move to Jordon or Syria
or Egypt . . . . These Arab nations claim to support the
"Palestinians." Let these Arab countries give them some land.
