IMO Europe and the Arab world should be concerned about Iran getting

And most of Europe at least is. There has already been broad
participation in sanctions against Iran. AIUI, most of the Arab
world is too. We recently read here a link to an article that showed
some Arab countries even getting closer to Israel on this one point.
Even if they're not really getting closer or if they're lying when
they do, that doesn't change that they're worried about Iran.
Whether such sanctions had a good chance of being effective or not
doesn't change that it took effort and some amount of antagonizing
Iran to participate in them.
What stops them from going further as requested, I don't know enough
about.
Iran has or will soon half long range missiles that can reach the
entire Middle East and Europe. Solving to so called Palestinian
problem has nothing to do with that.
True. Even if Cindy is right about Obama's intentions wrt Israel and
the Arabs, I doubt very much there will be any great change in that
any time soon, and I think Obama will be engaging in a two-pronged
approach, tying the two together and working on Europe and the Arabs
wrt Iran regardless of Israel.
Of course, anyone who wants a change in Israel is going to try to get
something for doing what it is in their interest to do anyhow. That's
how it always works. If your landlord wanted to put in a swimming
pool and that meant taking out one of your two tennis courts, even if
you wanted the pool more than the second tennis court, many tenants
would still say, Well, if you're going to take away my second tennis
court, you'll have to do something for me. And the landlord will say,
Hey what about the swimming pool! and the tenant will say, Well that's
very nice, but I'll have to worry about my two-year old drowning and
neighbors will want to come over, and I'm still losing a tennis court.
Almost everyone is really happy to get a wsimming pool, but when it's
not that clear, people and governments will try even harder to get
something in return for getting something they want or doing something
its already in their interest to do.
