It's not "lying" it's telling the people what they want to hear in order
to get elected, even though you know it's not true. Oh, wait, I guess that
is lying... :-)

This is why we need to teach people rigorous logic,
so they can spot the charlatans.

I believe it was 1870, and the franchise in Britain was
extended to all males, that Disraeli, the Conservative
prime minister, introduced legislation to provide "free"
education for all. The argument was, "We must educate
our masters."
