If you did share them with friends, you would be doing something
illegal. You would also have been susceptible to being robbed for the
drugs in your house.

I'm not a pharmacist, nor do I play one on Usenet, but redeeming a
prescription is stages creates more work and paperwork for the
pharmacist and insurance company (if one is involved). You though
$1.50 per dose was high? Imagine what it would be if you asked for
them one at a time! the pharmacist would have to use a new bottle,
label, and charge, including hi/r time in the equation, and that would
raise the cost astronomically. We forget that it's not just the drug
companies and insurance companies who make money on drugs. And not
all of the fees are unreasonable.
