I can name societies are not themselves present, but theirthey considered the problem
influence certainly is. =A0The Greeks and Romans thought the
Jews immoral for not doing so;
of overpopulation, and in those days, methods of doing
something about it were few.`
And look where that attitude and influence is getting them to this
very day..... Birth rates are stagnant in Europe and the Muslims are
filling in the gap... Sounds like Jews were correct, although Jewish
birthrates
outside the frum community are also pretty dismal... I had a stat on
that
a while back.. I can't remember where I put it now, so let's get back
to imposing
ones morality...
You said that you were partially handicapped. Would a society be right
in imposing
that since you are handicapped you should be offed? Is there not a
line that you
draw Herman?
There are societies which would "off" people who cannot
contribute to the society; they may have no other choice.
If a society cannot feed its population, what is the
choice? I know that the Christian view is that none are
killed or deprived of sustenance until dead, but is this
an intelligent decision for the society? If it is an
isolated society, survival must trump other attempts at
morality.
We are going to have to face this problem on this planet.
I am still contributing, and also have a large retirement
nest egg, which I hope not to have to draw upon.
I mean... I have my limits... and I even have limits on my limits...
What would
earth become if it was one big free for all? Not that we are not
headed that way
right now...
Cooperation still has its place. If I was in a group
which became isolated, I would gladly take on the job of
educating the young, even if this meant taking all my
time and keeping me from doing research.
