The way to get me to disclose it is not the path you have
repeateldy chosen here.
Has NOTHING to do with offense or defense. Tora is not a war.
It is my culture. It has a protocol.
Tora is not a war? See Sanhedrin 111b, about milchamtah shel
Tora. However, that war indeed has a protocol. When properly waged,
it ends up with "et vahev besufa," with the combatants ending up with
love for one another. It is also conducted with mutual respect and
with language becoming a talmid chacham, not with gutter language. It
is a war where the goal is not to win, but to clarify matters so that
the proper conclusion is arrived at.
In the course of my lifetime, I have engaged in many sorties in
milchamtah shel Tora. In some, I have conceded error; in some, those
with whom I disagreed conceded error; in yet others, we agreed to
remain in disagreement. However, in none of them did the conversation
ever degenerate to the level of personal insult or invective, and
certainly not to the nadir of nibul pe.
Whenever I see it, I am appalled anew. But I'm not Andelusian.
Maybe there it's de rigueur.
Prof. Jose Faur wrote regarding the rise of the Franco-German Kabbala
that one of the consequences was a significant deterioration in
etiquette - that the "new rabbis" abandoned the tradition of rabbinic
politeness to engage in invective. RaBaD was a good example, and he
wasn't rude only to Rambam, but to his colleagues as well.
Umm, does "rude" equal "nibul peh"? And if that indeed is one of the
"crimes" of Franco-German Kabbala, why is Jacko doing it?
Ummmm?
Come on man!
Can a "subject" commit a crime?
Have you any idea that Jews actually read something called the Bible?
"Im nabal titnabbal." Recognize it?
If not, WHY NOT? WHY ASK SILLY QUESTIONS AS IF A CONCEPT COULD COMMIT
A CRIME?
Read your Bible. Read anything and contribute susbstanntively. Why is
it you refuse to do that?
Why only silly buzz-words about "happiness" which contradict the
Bible?
WHY?
Moshe Schorr.
