I figured it was short for Palinsky, and Sarah. What could be better
than Sarah? But Palin's her husband's name anyhow.
Well, Joel, you are probably the only one in the newsgroup who has
spent considerable time in Alaska. Write to the newsgroup, as well as
the blog.

She is Christian and fairly fundamentalist. Her relationship to the
Jews up there (the Frozen Chosen) was good. I saw pictures of her at a
synagogue dedication in Anchorage last year. Like most Alaskans, she
probably hasn't thought much about Jews, probably met very few until
she got to be governor (Wasilla, her home, has zero, I think) and if
It only has 5500 people, but it does have a Chabad House.
Just kidding.
she has given a thought about Israel, I'd be amazed. She is a reformer
in a state with too much money from oil, and like most Alaskans, they
live on another planet totally disconnected from us in the Lower 48,
or "Outside" as they describe it. Ii was amazed at how mentally
isolated they are. It was one of their more endearing features. The
About 35 years ago, I got two postcards in one summer from Alaska,
each with a picture of Mt. Whitney and each with the same message,
from two different friends who didn't and don't know each other. They
were both on vacation.
Both postcards said, "You really should come up here. You could make
a lot of money." Because I fix mechanical things and there were
lots of jobs they thought were suitable for me.

likely Jewish. The first governor of Alaska and state Senator also was
Jewish and both Anchorage and Fairbanks have had Jewish mayors. Jews
have been there since the 1898 gold rush.
The "founder" or something, of Alaska was Jewish. The leader of the
movement to become a state. I forget his name. He might have been
one of the first two senators, and for quite a few years.

Sig: I don't want to spend as much time on the net as I once did, or in newsgroups. In the past I responded to almost any reply to me, because I thought silence meant assent to some people. But it shouldn't.
So once I make my points, I may not reply again. Especially if no new arguments are made on the other side. Please don't take that to mean you have convinced me or anyone.
