Yes. Why, is your variant lacking?

Ours is the original i.e. the authentic version.

Yours bears little resemblance to the original i.e. authentic: Old
English.

Olde Englishe is merely an older version of the current (correct)
language.

Then when you speak Old(e) English(e) you'll be correct.
Until then, I'm not impressed.

Can I translate this discussion into the subject of "Judaism"?
For example: "Are we speaking about the Jewish religion or the Reform
derivative?". Because in that case you _should_ be "impressed", since
we are indeed observing the Original. :-)

Ah, but it's NOT about Judaism (and thus really shouldn't be here in
the first place, I know). Even the language spoken in England today
is not the same as that spoken in 1776; the current English and American
languages are BOTH derivatives of a common source.

There are some here who will argue that this is indeed the same as
in Judaism, where Reform, Conservative and Orthodox branches are all
derivatives of a common source, and others who will argue that their
particular branch is the "true" original and the others are posers.

Perhaps there is some parallel after all; Old English used letters that
don't even exist in the modern alphabet. I'm told that some believe
our ancestors had access to particular wisdom (for example, techelet)
that is no longer available.
