Better comparison -- the intruder is subdued by a police officer who
happens to be on your balcony, handcuffed, and rendered completely
unable to harm you. Do you (a) shoot him in the head, in cold blood;
or (b) allow him to be convicted and incarcerated?

This only holds when the only terrorists Israel would putitatively
be giving them would be the incarcerated ones. I never thought
of it in terms of going to the holding pens & mowing down a
few of them, justified as that might be for their crimes. I thought
of it as holding onto the bodies of those they had to kill.

That's not what Leon said, though.

LEON If I were conducting the negotiations, I would offer to trade the

Perhaps its some juvenile sense of humor that I'm missing, but I view
that as a suggestion that Israel indeed go into the holding pens and
mow the incarcerated people down. And yes, I find that morally
repugnant.


And that's why the terrorists are succeeding in destroying Israel's quality
of life. I, too, find it repugnant, but I wouldn't hesitate to put a bullet
through a murderer's head. You don't fight fire with Pepsi-Cola. You fight
these people with everything you have because they are out to kill us and to
take over the world. Look at what is happening in Europe -- by 2050,
according to some sociologists, Holland will be an Islamic country, with
France and England waging a battle against millitant Islam. As long as they
can get away with firing rockets at hospitals, nursery schools and private
homes, they are going to do it. As long as they can get murderers relaeased
by trading the bodies of Israelis, they are going to capture and kill
Israelis.

During World War II, it took two -- yes, TWO -- atomic bombs to convince the
Japanese to surrender. After Iwo Jima and Okinawa (where I saw for myself
how they would fight) I had no feelings of remorse or guilt when I saw the
photos of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If you think that, too, was morally
repugnant, I can understand but you weren't there on the line.

There is a folk tale about the man who had a mule he couldn't train. He sent
for a famous mule trainer, who warned the owner that he must not object to
anything he saw. The trainer took a small sledge hammer out of his truck and
approached the mule. He hit the mule squarely between the eyes. The mule
keeled over and the trainer helped the stunned animal to stand up. He then
stood in front of the mule and hit it again with the hammer. The mule keeled
over again. When he had the mule on its feet again, he put on the mule's
harness and hitched it to a wagon. "Hyyup", he said in a quiet voice,
holding the hammer in front of the mule, and the mule docilely pulled the
wagon.

"See?" said the trainer, "You gotta get their attention first."

So far the Israelis haven't really gotten the Arabs' attention yet. They
turn over murderers for dead bodies. They let supplies go through borders
crossed by rockets going the other way. They give in to threats and issue
meaninglies warnings, all the while led by politicians as corrupt as any
Fatah elected official. And THAT's what I find morally repugnant.
