Shmaryahu,
Secret courts. One person, the President, can declare somebody an
enemy combatant, a phrase with no definition, and that person is held
indefinitely with no rights or representation. Secret search warrants
and secret searches. Integrating Christianity into all levels of
government. Giving public funds to private religious schools and
organizations. Etc. Etc. If you know the history of Jews in the
Western World, you should be a little worried.
As for giving funds to religious organizations, Jewish
organizations are included, and I believe that the
person in charge in this is Jewish.
We have no legislation on enemy combatants, as this is the
first time we have been involved in a major war where the
other side has not been the soldiers of a recognized
country, and also the first time terrorist attacks have
been used on a major scale. At least the enemy combatants
are recognized. Far worse is the treatment by the "civil
servants" of Immigration and Naturalization to those they
claim are illegal aliens.
As far as the Dems controlling the U.S. and knowing what's best for
the rest of us, I hear it in Republican speeches, but I don't see it
in real life. I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on
this one.
The public schools are a major example; the teachers' unions
are a major power in the Democratic Party. These are so
bad as to be unreformable; children should learn as well
and as fast as they can, and this can be done with less
time being spent in school. The public schools are more
interested in being with the age group than in teaching.
They get this going in the Depression, and it is getting
worse and worse. Thinking is suppressed.
They also want to impose "political correctness". There
was a recent contribution to rec.humor.funny on this,
which really hits the nail on the head.

The following is the 2007 winning entry from an annual contest at Texas
A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a
contemporary term. This year's term was ' Political Correctness '.
The winner wrote:
'Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical
minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which
holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd
by the clean end.'

Medicare is also almost a pure welfare system. What you
can get out has no relation to what you put in, and the
Dems want to make it more so. They are trying to make
our medical system pure socialism; this puts the operation
and the decisions in the hands of government czars.
At least you can sue an insurance company, and sometimes
win, but the government? If the "government" thinks you
can wait for an operation, or to see a specialist, you
will have no choice. Also, after a small initial period,
you will have no choice of doctor, and if you do not like
the one assigned to you, you might have to wait a long
time to see another. I have "fired" quite a few.
I don't think either party has a monopoly on stupidity. One large
problem is that the powerful Republicans are doing what's best for the
Republican party, and the powerful Democrats are doing what's best for
the Democratic party, and nobody is doing what's best for the country
and the people. If a decent, viable third, fourth, or fifth party
candidate came along, I'd gladly vote for them.
There are some of these, but with the present system,
your vote will not count.

Ken
