"House" is English for "bayit". So if his name was Bayit originally
but he changed it to House, he was probably anglicizing his Hebrew
name. So he was probably Jewish.
Maybe that would really be "Bayis", or "Bayes". OTOH, Thomas Bayes
(as in Bayes' Theorem in probability) was a Presbyterian minister, so
I don't know how far we can push this one. OTOOH, maybe Thomas Bayes
had Jewish ancestry?
But Bayes didn't change his name. So that's more evidence that House
is Jewish since he changed his name from Bayit.
He didn't have to; he used the Yiddish pronunciation.
What's the odds of that happening?
About the same as House changing his name from Bayit.
