Some stores still have them left over from last year?????? No thanks.

I have always suspected that much of the Passover stuff is left over from
last year. And not just the stuff in shops. People keep a lot of stuff
from
year to year too. At the end of the holiday, people pack up unopened
packages (or sometimes opened packages, depending on the item) and put it
away for next year.

Raising hand, proudly.

Last year, a woman confessed to me that she was still
using her KLP spices from the 1970s. (shudder)

Why the (shudder)? One of the nice things about Pesach products is
that they're "pure". (Ask the folks who buy out the KLP Coka Cola).

Not sure about other people's reasons, but Coca Cola aficionados get the KLP
Coke because it's made with real sugar (and thereby an older, more original
or authentic recipe) and not corn syrup. Some say it tastes better, others
simply that it tastes the way they remember Coke tasting. Others buy it for
the 'health reason' of trying to avoid high fructose corn syrup.

We certainly stock up. My kids tease me over how much I buy and stock pile.

On a semi-related note, we just bought a case of the Cabot
OU-certified sharp cheddar cheese when our shul was selling it. I
think the case had 18 bars in it. We don't go through THAT much
cheese so quickly, but it's OU-P and it doesn't expire until sometime
around September 2009, so a bar a month would last us until then.

(Note for anyone else who bought or is buying that cheese: we were told
it's old/sharp/hard enough that consumption would require waiting X
hours before eating meat again.)
