|> What is it about the Left that they promise utopia? Again it is not
Obama

be
|doing two things: they have this idea of a glorious paradise on earth
and at the

Left
|really fears the average person but yet believes that a glorious leader
(a
|messiah figure) is above it all and will solve all their problems.
|
|What "Left?" There is no "Left" in American politics. Those few pols
|actually ON the left are marginalized. On the hand the far *right* has
|completely taken over the Republic Party.

Of course we have leftists. Not the traditional socialism or communism of
the
past but still leftists. The Left, even under socialism, has always been
mistrustful of the people feeling that they needed to be cared for. Even
socialism promoted self centeredness rather than community. What did pass
for
community was merely the state.

But what you are seeing today among leftwingers is socialism lite which is
more
like European fascism.

Nope, maybe a handful: Kucinich, Maxine Waters, Senator Bernie Sanders (who
IS a socialist). Among elected officials there are few letists and none
with any real power. Here's a clue: just because a person doesn't share
your rightwing views doesn't make them a "leftist."

|> We have seen this before. Look even JFK and Reagan played at the hope

|Godwin's Law.

Why? Is it not a fair academic comparison in that we are seeing tactics
that
mirror those of the Nazis? Godwin's law was about the false comparisons
done by
left wingers (who called wolf, that is nazi, so often that it made the
term
meaningless).

No, it is not about "false comparisons done by left wingers." It is about
false comparisons -- such as yours -- done by ANYONE.

If you want to see a true example of contemporary fascism, take a look at
the incumbent, who is willing to risk a terrorist attack on America unless
corporations are given immunity from lawsuits over their misdeeds.

and

|
|Ah, I get it. This was satire. VERY funny.
|
|I suppose this "over realism" is why we're bogged down in a war we
shouldn't
|have started in the first place. Because our Glorious Leader was "over
|realistic." That's also why the Right answers all economic conditions --
|good and bad -- with one reply: tax cuts for the rich. And why segments
of
|the right want ignorance perpetuated in schools rather than science.
|
|Fortunately this is shaping up to be a major realignment election, and
the
|discredited ideas of the rightwing Republic Party are being tossed on the
|scrapheap of history. In terms of having a just society, ensuring a
stable
|and safe Middle East environment for Israel, and regaining the world's
|respect as a secular "light unto the nations," it will take not only the
|removal of the current failed regime, but cleaning up the tremendous mess
|it's leaving in its wake. It's time for the grownups to take charge
again.

Why is the Iraq war something that we should not have done? I have fought
there. The Islamic world is being attacked by a religious cult that
practices
human sacrifice (radical Islam). It has been my life, and that of many
Jews in
our military, who have been on the forefront of this battle. We are at
the
place that Europe was with the Spanish Civil war.

Iraq was not a threat to the US. It had nothing whatsoever to do with 9/11.
And the result has now destablized the region and increased not only the
power of Iran, but the power of Islamic radicals in other countries. Bush
has given Osama everything he could have wanted.

As for the world's respect, tell what other country has its act together?
Europe
has huge problems and may well be conquered within 20 years by radical
Islam.
Europe no longer has enough youth to staff a military anyway.

The rest of the world is basically ran by dictators. The US may well be
the
last hope of Western Culture.

In fact, under Bush, the US is seen as one of the biggest *threats* to the
world. He has squandered our prestige and ability to lead.

I'm convinced that the increased worldwide animosity towards Israel in
recent years is because Israel is seen -- rightly or wrongly -- as Bush's
proxy.
