I first want to say that I am NOT repeat NOT complaining about
the
mods. I think they do a great
job.

But, I recently had a post rejected without moderators comment.
So
if
a post is pretty long, without having a comment on what was the
reason
for rejection, how is one supposed to know what to tweak? It is
just
a
guess on my part, but what one mod would reject, another mod
might
let
through correct, but I don't think it is right for someone to
send
the
same thing through, hoping that another mod will let it
through...

TIA

There are a number of standard reasons for rejection which lead to
standard messages which can be found at:
http://scjm.jewish-usenet.org/reject-msgs/
The most common ones (apart from spam which will not concern
genuine
posters at scjm) are offtopic and offensive.
The rejecting moderator has the option of adding an explanatory
comment to the standard message. I usually do this but sometimes I
think the submitted post is so obviously offensive or off-topic
that
any comment is superfluous.

But if it is a long post with many different thoughts, it might not
be
obvious to the person making the post.

With regard to your mention of the possibility of another
moderator
letting the same post through I should tell you that the
robomoderator
is programmed to send a replacement for a rejected message to the
same
moderator who rejected the first attempt.

Well, that is a good deal. But as I was saying earlier, I wouldn't
have
attempted that, because that IMO would be rude to do in the first
place.

Thanks.

The reason for this specification is that if the poster revises his or
her post to change the offending part this will be recognised by the
same moderator. I wish call centres had facilities to speak to the
same person each time.
