The flaw in the argument here is that the group's "unique identity"
What I'm trying to do is to reconcile what seems to me to be two
(well, maybe three) incompatible premises.
0) "(some) Jews are persecuting the Palestinians"
1) "(some) Jews deny the existence of Palestinians as an identity.
These tend to be ones who are also doing #0"
2) "Persecution of a group requires collection of the persecuted by
the persecutors based upon some unique identifying characteristic"
If #2 is correct, and #1 is also correct, then #0 cannot be correct
without some sort of further refinement or rationalisation. If the
unique identity is required for persecution, and that unique identity
is being actively denied by a group, then that group can't be engaging
in persecution - at least not in the way that #2 defines it, and/or
not toward the group whose identity is being denied.
doesn't need to rely on the self-described identity of
"Palestinians". Rather, it can be as general as "Arabs who live in
the West Bank and Gaza, and their supporters."
