The reason why religious jews may form the majourity, is because they
are having (last thing I read in the jewish tribune) 7-9 children,
and secular jews and arabs, are having alot less.
The article said they had an average of 9 but that has dropped to 7
since netanyahu cut child welfare. Netanyahu`s welfare cut has
caused arabs to have less children too, but they are having alot
less. Religious jews have alot of children, despite the poverty it
brings. They have a command to be fruitful and multiply. They are
and they do. Thank G-d..
Probably not so nice for the children, though. Speaking of somebody
who has a fairly large family -- by today's standards -- seven
children is too many for most families to manage nicely. Aside from
needing welfare stipends to subsidize growing children as if they were
some kind of crop, it's difficult to give that many children the
attention, care and affection that children need. --
"BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY" !
"BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY" !
besides, sometimes parents try to talk too much to their kids, and
that causes arguments.
I think in these religious families kids keep themeselves occupied
playing games together.
in less religious families (With a television!!!) , boys are brought
up by Arnie or Hulk hogan. Doesn`t really do any harm unless the kid
has behavioural disorders already, but then he will see opportunities
for being horrible in anything.
Again, speaking as the mother of quite a few (and again -- by today's
standards) children need supervision, and parents also need to have a
life.
I think it's harmful to use TV as a child minder -- because it makes
them passive, which stifles their natural curiosity.
Today, dumb computer games have taken the place of TV in many
households. What a sorry misuse of this wonderful asset.
IMO, bad behavior is rarely inborn. In our house, it usually was
caused by the perpetrator being bored. It's the parents' job to
teach children early on how to make good use of time. But that's hard
work, too. I cannot imagine being an effective parent to seven or
more kids. As my grandmother (who had five children and then a
caboose who was ten years younger than the rest) used to say, "if you
don't pay enough attention to them, they grow up like weeds."
