There aren't many Jewish social forums, so I hope this one is a
success.

Some of us have been here for at least 23 years. I thought it was 25,
but Google Groups has nothing before

Well, we know that SCJM isn't for everyone, and there are many folks
who aren't even aware of Usenet. Realistically, it is better to have
a diverse array of forums anyhow. With millions of Jews using the
Internet, can you imagine what this group would be like if only a few
thousand of them began posting regularly? The expression that comes
to mind is "totally unmanageable chaos". It's much the same as if
everyone in NYC wanted to go to the same shul. No one would ever get
an aliyah, and everyone would be lost in the crowd. It's the same
with forums. There are limits to functional size.
