Why is fascist misleading? Even if it's not precisely the same fascism as
that of Mussolini, it seems to be a pretty apt term. I know you don't like
Wikipedia but they have a number of quotes and citations that all resonate
pretty well with what al Queda seems to want.

Communist wouldn't be apt because they don't follow Marx etc.

I don't know if we have a word for what they are, exactly -- but I think
just calling them "Islamist" or "Islamic Extremists" is
counter-productive. It lumps the whole religion together, which is I think
what you're trying to avoid.


Calling them *extremists* is precisely apt. I don't see all Jews or
Christians as the same as the extremist elements within each group. The
same with Muslims.
