So much for America's claim to be the land of the free.

Henry,

My brother graduated from MIT a little more than twenty years ago. He
half-jokingly says half the students were Asian and half were Jewish.
He still does some recruiting or interviewing or some such thing for
MIT. If he ever had any problems there, I'm sure I would have heard
about it and I'm sure he wouldn't be volunteering his time for them.

Very definitely yes, the U.S. has had plenty of discrimination towards
Jews. I'm the first to say that a hundred times over. Does
discrimination still exist? Of course. I'm pretty sure I've been
dismissed from jobs and not offered jobs in The States due to
discrimination. But I wouldn't compare today's universities or any
part of American society to the 1940's/50's.

Just my two-cents worth.

My uncle went to MIT in the [I think] '50s. It may have been the '60s.
He came from a poor family, so must have been awarded scholarships.
