Thanks, Jay, but the trouble was that I vouched for him the last time. The
difference between then and now is that I think I know him much better now.
I have spoken to him on the phone twice at length, and I don't have any
reason to believe that he is currently misrepresenting himself. He is a very
nice guy and has apologized many times over for misleading me/us in the
past.

That's the advantage to being upfront about who and what you are right
from the start... You don't have to remember what you told people or
try to keep your story straight. :-)
