I see that you disparage the talmudic dictum "halacha hi b'yadua
she'esav sonei l'yisrael". It's so "nice" to hear people ridiculing
traditional Jewish thought on soc.culture.JEWISH.moderated :-)

Apparent translation: Any disagreement with the dictates of Josh
should result in a virtual cherem. Is any disagreement about the
interpretation and application of a phrase from the Talmud now
forbidden?


How would you know if you NEVER studied the text and haven't got the
faintest idea how commentators explain this talmudic dictum ?

When you study the original surce material with commentaries, we'll
have a dialogue rather than a monologue.

How does the original source material, produced by scholars
who had no idea of the amount of Edomite ancestry of the
various nations, tell us anything relevant to the "fact" of
an Edomite "anti-Jewish" inherent prejudice, if this was
in fact the case for the Edomites?

Is the idea of "pro-Semitic" or "anti-Semitic" from birth
relevant in modern times?
