I doubt that he was. I was simply stating the reason why I dislike
that type of statement. If the Palestinians are suffering (and they
are), why does it matter that they are suffering more than some other
group of people? And if Obama is correct that they are suffering
most, does that help other people who are suffering, or does it mean
that they aren't equally entitled to our sympathy and assistance?

Second, if we were to make comparisons, I don't see how you
can conclude that the Palestinians are suffering more than, say, the
people in Darfur.

But he was dicussing the ME situation, not the entire world.

You're correct as to what he was discussing. But I still maintain
that if you're going to discuss paradigms of suffering (something I
don't think you should do), its rather silly to focus exclusively on
the Palestinians.
