Re: The Religion of Secularism

This is why I feel like I am talking to troglodytes.

It may reassure you then to realize that it's not we trogs who offer
needless insults to those with whom they disagree, Jacko;-)

It is not a "needless insult". It is not an insult at all. It is a
genuine expression of how I feel.

I do not have to flatter absurd arguments as somehow valid.

You speak as if America and Nazi Germany had an equivalent
"secularaism."

I think they were.

Did any Reichmarks ever say "In God We Trust"?

I'd be very surprised to find a Reichsmark that had an English phrase
on it, wouldn't you, Jacko?

It would have been in German. I REFERRED TO THE MEANING.
FARSTUNDEN-SIE, BITTE?

Look I am not in the third grade. You made what I see as a naive and
silly comparison. You have to accpet that educated people may come
back agressively when you do that.

Instead of introspection you insult me. Grow up.

(Oh, and word of warning, Abe may drop in on us and imply that only
antisemites mispell "Reichsmark.)

And I do not care about such alleged superficial analyses.

Did the Weimar Constitution have an establishment clause?

Have no idea. I was not referring to the Weimar Republic in
particular.

I think that is decidedly naive. I think you should read "The Origin of
Republican Form of Government" by Oscar Strauss (first Jewish US
cabinet member) and see what role Tora and the "Old Testament" played
in America.

No thanks. I'm on a diet from sources, authors, tomes, etc., cited but
not summarized here. It's easy to throw out names and titles as though
they bolster one's argument when one hasn't even read the work in
question.

And it is easy to speak like a troglodyte. Here's another slogan for
your arsenal: "Bajo la intelligencia."

I cannot summarize a 147 page work to someone who believes in the
equivalent of "Bajo la Intelligencia."

SO when YOU make needless insults, well that's okay. Egocentrism? You
are "right" and the "other" well, screw him?

You know, fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice....

You're smart and well educated, why not provide a paragraph or two
summary of Mr. Strauss's book for scjm readers. Maybe I or someone
else will then be inspired to seek out a copy.

But don't forget, in order to carry your argument you also have to
show that any religious bases (and I'm not saying the US is perfectly
secular, so they exist) of US society are not found correspondingly in
interwar Germany.

Do your own homework. Or don't. I am not a habad rabbi. I care not
if you do or do not become "turned on." You do me no favor by taking
responsibility for your own education.
