But would you expect that to be any different if it was twenty of
anybody versus one of anybody?
It was disruptive and downright dangerous for 20 people to be blocking the
walkways and aisles of the airplane. Not to mention a huge inconvenience for
every other passenger aboard (who may have wanted to leave his seat to get
something out of the overhead compartment or go to the restroom). And a huge
inconvenience for the crew who needed to be able to walk up and down the
aisles. The only explanation for why this was permitted was that the crew
felt intimidated. They did not want to deal with the potential ramifications
(in all likelihood 20 angry Muslims arguing with them and yelling at them
and subsequently charging them with racism) of telling these people that
they had to get out of the aisle and return to their seats immediately. A
single individual, OTOH, is much easier to dominate.
On the now defunct Vanguard Airlines, we went several rounds with a flight
attendant who rebuked us because we asked our son if he wanted to meet the
captain (before the flight), and the flight attendant claimed that taking
our then-3-or 4-year-old son to the front cabin would disrupt the other
passengers who were busy boarding the plane putting their stuff in the
overhead compartments. Then, she didn't like that our son was standing on
the seat to reach the light (the plane was not moving at the time). Then,
she complained because our son had pulled down the window shade (she claimed
that she needed to be able to see out the window in case the captain needed
her assistance to land the plane - I kid you not). A passenger who was
sitting next to us confided that he needed to use the restroom but was
afraid to leave his seat lest the flight attendant start yelling at him.
Best regards,

In any case - different flight crews, different flights. Perhaps the
crew that confronted the one Jew would've pitched the 20 Muslims out the
emergency exit. Perhaps the crew that permitted the 20 Muslims to pray
would've given the one Jew a complimentary cocktail. There's no way to
tell.
