Of course. In an Agatha Christie novel, the way it would unfold would be
that Miss Marple would suddenly figure out who was the murderer, and she
would rush off to confront the person before it was too late, knowing full
well what was going to happen. But, alas, she would be too late. The
murderer (elderly Miss Pennington from Charing Cross) had realized that
exposure was imminent, and being unable to face the prospect of being taken
away in handcuffs, she has already taken matters into her own hands. And
just as Miss Marple enters the room, the scent of bitter almonds fills the
air.
