If I'd written the above I'd want my name kept off it as well. Didn't
the world go to war against Germany and thus end the Holocaust in the
only way possible (particularly seeing as the Holocaust didn't enter
high gear until after Poland was invaded)? Do I have that wrong?

Andy was the _purpose_ of the Allies in WWII to save Jewish lives?
Was it even a blip on their radar? Because if it was, why did they
send the St. Louis back to Germany and the passengers to certain
death?

Sigh ... of course it wasn't, Moshe. I never claimed otherwise.

There's so much wrong with the above ... in spite of increasing
discrimination and pogromistic brutality towards the Jews, the first
actual massacre of a mold that woujld become the Holocaust took place,
if memory serves, in Bialystock, Poland. So the Holocaust takes place
*after* the war began, not before.

So really the author isn't simply misleading, he's a liar, whoever he
his. The world *never* sat by and let the Holocaust proceed. And I'd
expect anyone, Jew or gentile, who condemns the world for having
motives other than saving the Jews--though I believe this did enter
into their war calculations--to be packing for the Sudan.

Similarly, I know we'll probably wind up disagreeing there, but I
don't see how the US and others could have known that rterturn of the
SL meant sure death to its passengers.
