Ha'aretz is running a story that 50 pro-Israel Christian tourists (wearing
"Love Your Neighbor" orange T-shirts) were physically attacked by 100
charedim as they (the tourists) were trying to enter Mea Shearim. The
antisemites are having a field day with this one. Does anyone know what this
was all about? (What were the Christian tourists doing in Mea Shearim?)

I don't know all the details of the alleged incident, but Haaretz, like most
leftist, secularist organs, just LOVES to bash religion and religious Jews,
especially Haredim (and Chassidim), the "ultra-Orthodox."

And the Haredim wouldn't do anything to provide that opportunity, of
course...

What most probably happened is that those tourists entered Mea She'arim to see
the quaint neighborhood, and it IS that, while dressed in a way the local
residents consider immodest (and there are large signs prominently displayed, in
Hebrew and English, urging visitors to not enter the neighborhood in immodest
dress), and that provoked the alleged attack.

Is there some halachic support for the idea of physically attacking
non-Jews who don't dress as we would prefer?
