This Shabbat, someone distributed in my Shul a pamphlet
by the "Lev HaYehudi" group, which is centered in
the yishuv Yitzhar in the Shomron. They are close
the Rabbis Dudkevitch and Ginsburg. They are very
active in the YESHA settlement movement, but they
disagree with much of the spiritual leadership which
comes from the Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva and the students
of Rav Tzvi Yehuda Kook. They feel that the "Mercaz"
people got too close with the regime in power, granting
too much religious legitimization, and that is what led
to the paralysis that has taken hold of much of the
YESHA leadership since the destruction of Gush Katif.
This pamphlet called for saying the partial Hallel
like that said on Rosh Chodesh without a beracha
(like the Sefardim do on Rosh Chodesh). They
also called for saying only the regular pesukei
d'Zimra of weekdays instead of the longer
Shabbat/Yom Tov one as the Rabbinate
ruled. In short, they say that we should look
at reality as it is...i.e. we are very greatful
for the good that has happened in creating
the state, ingathering of the exiles, creation
of the world Torah center, etc, but we must
be aware that the situation is FAR from what it
should be, with the regime turning its back
on Zionism, the security of its citizens,
social solidarity, and the very designation
of the state as a "Jewish" state. I found
the arguments very convincing and this
year I will restrict by tefillot as they indicated,
with the exception of my saying full Hallel
with a beracha (they said that if the custom
of the shul is to do it that way, then one can
continue to say it that way).
