Ehud Olmert can still learn from Sharon.

Israelis went to the polls Tuesday for the fifth time in 10 years, and
what's remarkable is that they emerged more or less as they had
entered: leaderless.
This is probably the best we "right-wing extremists" could hope
for. The worst thing for Israel is a "strong" right-wing gov't, with
a strong, charismatic leader with a glorious past as a fighter.
Under governments like that with Begin we lost Sinai and
a terrible war in which Israel was defeated with thousands
of casualties. Under Sharon we had a terror war that went
on far longer and with far more casualties than was necessary
since he decided that "restraint is strength" and then he destroyed
29 flourishing communities in return for cash from enemies of
Israel through Martin Shlaff and avoidance of prosecution.
A weak gov't will not be able to stand up to public pressure
to prevent more atrocities like what Sharon did.
Sounds strange, doesn't it?
More crap. The right wing is trying to console itself for its major
defeat. Public opinion has a chance to vote in a right wing bloc which
could have tried to stop another withdrawal., The public did not do
that, and sent a clear message that it wants to be rid of this cancer
called the Territories.
There may be another reason Jay, why the "right" didn't vote, not because
they want to get shot of the Territories, but because by voting for Bibi
they might've set themselves up for another Sharon style betrayal. It seems
that what the non-voters are saying is that all Israeli politicians are a
bunch of lying as*****s.
