Again, Jay you're not quoting so we have no context. I addressed
that in my response to Tim. Since you ask directly, I'll explain.

Steve and Lisa have a long history of going at each other. Lisa
doesn't mince words and Steve loves to tease. So when one of them
left, it was automatically a calming affect.

With Joel it's more complex. The "hot-button" being discussed was
intermarriage. Since Joel is in that situation, he took it very
personally (though I'm sure it wasn't meant to him more than to
anyone else in that situation.) His sharp retorts generated sharper
re-retorts and the spiral kept going. As I said when he announced his
departure, I hope he'll be back. And I hope he finds a quieter but
still very lively SCJM. A good question is whether such a combination
is possible.
