Once the police do arrive, though, the issue becomes murkier.
In a civil society, you're expected to fight it out in court not in the
streets. Even if (or especially if) the reason you're in court is because
you were in the street.
Cops are people who have official permission to kill you, should
they deem it necessary.
And are you supposed to _let_ them?
I don't think it matters who started it, up until the point
where you're prepared to declare a revolution.
