That comment leaves me just about speechless.
Too bad there is no independent historical evidence that *Jesus* ever
existed, but I won't pursue that as Christianity and "Messianic Judaism"
(sic) are off-topic on SCJM.
The Talmud has lots of such evidence. Or does that not count?
Bearing in mind Russell's caveat, there's a person in the Talmud called
Yeshua the Notzri (no relation to some or other character in another
religion). This guy was a student of R' Yehoshua ben Perachiah. That
would put this individual at about 100 or more BCE. While it's
possible that some or other religion might have used the name of this
character in some of their myths, it's also possible that they didn't.
