Just as, by comparison, there's no way that a frum Jew could ever be
induced to save the life of a gentile on shabbos ... or, is there?

You're all over the place here, Fiona. If Islam is as intransigently
bent on the destruction of the Jews then only by dominating them can
Israel survive.

If survival is your principle concern being in Israel is as much of a
gamble as the diaspora. One Muslim state has already developed nuclear
capacity. Others will surely follow. All the Jews in the world packed
into a relatively small small region .... what's that sound like?

You don't get it, there's no guarantee either way.
