If Sharon had gotten a clear public mandate by elections or a
referendum,
I might agree with what you are saying. Since he refused to, then
not only is what he is doing anti-Jewish, but also anti-democratic.
Bashing down the doors of a synagogoue full of people and dragging
them out and then dynamiting the place, dragging screaming children
out of their homes and then bulldozing them, destroying Jewish property
that had been built up over years and not being compensated adequately,
all against the will of the people without any proper democratic
procedure...this is what happened in pogroms in Europe and other
places. Does the fact that Jews are doing it make it okay?
The Yevsektsia (Jewish Branch of the Communist Party of the
USSR) also did things like this in the 1930's. They were Jews,
doing it in the name of progress, was that also okay?
BTW-the Israeli media uses the word "pogrom" frequently to describe
fights between Jews and Arabs in places like Hevron.
I just read there was a terrorist attack north of Jerusalem with
seriously
wounded child. They quoted some army or gov't authority saying
"we expected this due to the disengagement". Is it okay for the
gov't to take decisions knowing they will cause deaths and injuries
for "a greater good". Is this what Israel was set up for?
I am very angry at what is happening and I am trying to alert people
to this, and I guess this is leading me to using "inflated" rhetoric.
This is what people like Hillel Kook (aka Peter Bergson) did during
World War 2. He was also attacked for being a troublemaker, but
if this is what it takes, then so be it.
