3-star takes helm of U.S. Forces Japan

Lt. Gen. Edward A. Rice Jr. assumed command Monday of U.S. Forces Japan and 5th
Air Force during a ceremony at Yokota Air Base, Japan.
He replaced Lt. Gen. Bruce A. Wright, who is retiring.
Rice most recently served as vice commander of Pacific Air Forces, and he also
has served as commander of 13th Air Force at Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii,
according to his Air Force biography.
He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1978 and is a command pilot with
