An 18-year-old Japanese man has admitted killing three members of his
family before burning them, local media reported.
The eldest son in the family of four was arrested for stabbing his 43-
year-old mother, 15-year-old brother and 13-year-old sister with a
survival knife at their apartment in the northern city of Hachinohe,
Aomori prefecture, on January 9, police officials were quoted as
saying.
The suspect, whose name has been withheld because he is under 20, the
Japanese age of majority, then set light to the apartment with the
bodies inside, they added.
The teenager, who had already been in custody since January 10 for
alleged violation of a law on possession of knives, was rearrested for
murder, arson and damaging the bodies, the officials said.
