The Kyrgyz-Turkish MANAS University ( http://www.summerschool.manas.kg
) cordially invites
interested participants to take part in an unforgettable Central
Asian
cultural and educational experience during the summer of 2007.
The purpose of bringing people together for the 19 day event from
different parts of the world is to offer participants an insightful
and
educational perspective of Kyrgyzstan's people, culture, tradition,
history, art, literature, geography, and political and economic
institutions. Besides, its primary role is to promote the exchange of
information and to communicate the knowledge and experiences of the
Kyrgyz nation in various fields through seminars, conferences, and
workshops during the whole period of the program.
The summer school allows everyone the opportunity to pursue the
themes
that appeal most to them. For those who wish to learn more about the
language, there would be Kyrgyz language lessons and historical
introduction to the Turkic languages. For those whose passion is
history and art, there are abundant examples to contemplate and
explore. For the adventurer who adores natural beauty, there are many
sights that will make you catch your breath. For the gastronome, a
true
banquet awaits you every meal time. For those who crave for
discovery,
there is a glorious country awaiting you right at your fingertips.
For
those interested in literature and the crafts, first-hand
demonstrations and activities have been arranged. For those who love
to
travel, visits to the countryside will leave an indelible mark on
your
memory. Kyrgyzstan with its high culture is truly an amazing land and
the Kyrgyz-Turkish MANAS University prides itself in extending you an
invitation to drink from the fountain of civilization.
Eligibility: participants for the International Summer School will be
encouraged to be senior students, scholars, academics, professionals,
and pensioners from 20 years to 75 years of their age from all parts
of
the world.
The cost of the ISS is $1,400
The fee will cover all costs of tuition and materials,
accommodation for full period of the program, all meals (breakfast,
lunch, and dinner), excisions, and transportation inside Kyrgyzstan.
Participants are encouraged to transfer the advance payment of 10% of
the total fee upon the confirmation of their participation via bank
or
Western Union money transfer. The full payment has to reach the
respective destination till May 30, 2007 or after the arrival time to
Kyrgyzstan.
Travel and visa costs will not be provided by the International
Summer
School.
Kyrgyz visa costs approximately US$60. Citizens of the United States,
the CIS, many European countries, and Korea can purchase a Kyrgyz
visa
upon arrival at Manas International Airport in Kyrgyzstan
An official letter of invitation to attend the Summer School Program
will be forwarded to any individual upon request to assist in
obtaining
a visa or for any other reason.
