Tokyu timetable changes September 25

Tokyu Railway schedules will change on September 25 '06 (Mon).
Subway Mita Line and Namboku Line (which have through trains to Tokyu)
will change on the same day. Tokyu Setagaya (tramway) Line schedules
will change on September 30th (Sat).

1. Express trains appear on Meguro Line

Express services will be added to the Meguro Line. This will reduce
travel time between Musashi-Kosugi and Meguro by 5 minutes.

Express stops (west to east):

Musashi-Kosugi, Tamagawa, Den'en-Chofu,
O-okayama, Musashi-Koyama, Meguro, (--> subway )

The new express trains will run at 8 min 30 sec intervals on weekday
mornings, 30 minute intervals during the daytime, and 12 minute
intervals in the evening.

Tokyu charges no extra for express services.

Express and local will connect with each other, on the same platform, at
Musashi-Koyama.

Meguro Line trains continue to/from subway Mita Line and Namboku Line,
serving all stations. The Meguro Line is like a bridge between the
Toyoko Line and these subway lines. The Toyoko Line has contact with
the subway at also Shibuya and Naka-Meguro. Check with the Hyperdia or
other optimum path finder. (See below.) Though there is a staircase
when transfering at Shibuya, many people will still prefer the Ginza
Line which usually has the best station locations and platforms near the
surface.


2. Toyoko Line (and MM21 Line)

Travel time between Shibuya and Yokohama will improve by 1-2 minutes,
with the completion of elevation works around Moto-Sumiyoshi.

Additional runs and extensions will ease congestion during the late evening.


3. Oimachi Line, Tokyu Tamagawa Line and Ikegami Line

Minor adjustments will be made on these lines, to ensure smooth
connections to/from the Toyoko Line and Meguro Line.


4. Subway Mita Line, Namboku Line, Hibiya Line

The number of runs will increase on the subway Mita Line and Namboku
Line. On these two lines, "Express" signs will appear on some
southbound trains. This designation applies only to the Tokyu section
(west of Meguro) and can be safely ignored for subway-only trips.

No schedule changes for the Hibiya Line.

5. Setagaya Line

This will start on September 30th.

19 daily runs will be added to the Setagaya Line on weekends, reducing
the mean interval between trains from 6 minutes to 5 to cope with rising
traffic.

The weekday schedule will not change.
