Palestinian Arab Brutality Accepted By West

PALESTINIAN BRUTALITY ACCEPTED BY WEST

Judge by Western acceptance of Palestinian Authority (P.A.) brutality
against its own people, whether people criticize Israeli treatment of
Palestinian Arabs because they care about those Arabs or as a pretext
for venting bigotry against Jews

The Wall St. Journal Europe poses the question now, because a week
ago, the Daily Mail quoted senior P.A. official Haitham Arar on
personal abuse, and last January, Mail On Sunday detailed P.A. regular
beatings, whippings, attacks with electric drills [not just on
Halloween], murder, and rape against opponents of Abbas’ Fatah.
Mostly, the West ignores this organized brutality.

Despite the criminal nature of the P.A., which the P.A. does not deny,
the West continues and increases hundreds of millions of dollars of
subsidy, passing a billion dollars. Britain’s reaction was to send
officers to train the P.A. not to torture prisoners.

When Britain is accused of assisting in U.S. interrogation of
prisoners, people threaten to put its leaders on trial. When Israel
fights to stop Hamas rocket bombardment of Israel, the UN threatens it
with war crimes trials. [Earlier articles showed that Israel acted
humanely in that war, Hamas did not, claims to the contrary
notwithstanding.] “But when the West funnels billions to a
Palestinian government whose abuses are brazen and ongoing, there is
mainly silence.” Al-Hayat Al-Jadida

What an unmerciful double standard! It shows insincerity or cynicism
in those who ostensibly care about Palestinian Arabs. It also
undermines the case, which is not made so much as asserted as
axiomatic, that the Palestinian Authority should be given sovereignty
and without having to prove itself worthy. What is the real reason
and why the rush? Why is the P.A. treated as a sacred cow?

The reasons to withhold such subsidies, aside from the West being in a
recession, are ethical and practical. Ethical: one should not
subsidize systematic brutality. Practical: The P.A. is allied to the
jihad to impose barbaric and oppressive ways upon the whole world.
