OLMERT PROPOSES TO DIVIDE JERUSALEM 16018 – Shulman
LET HIM GET CAUGHT!
The former Fatah head of Abbas’ Preventive Security service, and
former Fatah strongman in Gaza, Muhammad Dahlan, planned much
terrorism against Israel. Hamas has preferred charges against them
for corruption and for torturing Hamas members. They are hiding,
probably in Egypt (IMRA, 8/17).
I thought the USt was disgraceful for relying upon Dahlan to defend
Gaza from Hamas, ignoring his extensive terrorism in order to support
him. He proved useless in real combat, apparently competent only
against unwary civilians.
OTHER ARABS WANT TO MEDIATE P.A. CIVIL STRIFE
Qatar hopes to mediate the conflict between Fatah and Hamas. Its goal
is their reconciliation (IMRA, 8/17). As Jordan renews ties with
Hamas, broken over Hamas plans to commit terrorism in Jordan, a
Jordanian Islamist leader expressed hope that Jordan could mediate in
the P.A.. Egypt had tried it.
Uniting the two terrorist groups would strengthen jihad against
Israel. Thus Qatar and some Jordanians, like Egypt, have no ethical
problem with terrorism, so long as it is directed at another country.
The basis for Jordan’s reconciliation with Hamas probably is a Hamas
promise to commit terrorism only against Israel and not against
Jordan. Jordan should take Hamas at its word.
U.S. DOUBLING SUBSIDY OF JORDAN
The increase would bring the annual total to $500 million (IMRA,
8/17).
The US cannot spare such funds for countries turning Islamist.
OLMERT PROPOSES DIVISION OF JERUSALEM
He proposes letting the P.A. rule Arab areas of Jerusalem and having
joint rule indefinitely at the Temple Mount and other disputed areas.
This means that local Israeli security forces would fall under joint
supervision and therefore could be tied up by the Muslims. The Arabs
could exaggerate minor differences of opinion in municipal matters,
and fire from Arab areas into Jewish areas. Thus, by seeming to
postpone key decisions, Olmert perpetuates key conflicts (IMRA,
8/17). In some areas called “Arab,” Jews are a majority.
His plan is wrongful as well as foolish. I don’t like to call for
someone’s assassination, for it doesn’t seem respectable. But how
else can the Jewish people rid itself of what may be its most
dangerous traitor ever?
