THE SUDDEN-ISLAMIST-MURDERER SYNDROME

Daniel Pipes addressed the syndrome of the quiet Muslim student in the
West who secretly turns Islamist and suddenly murders people around
him. "Individual Islamists may appear law-abiding and reasonable,
but they are part of a totalitarian movement and, as such, all must be
considered potential killers."

Islamist ideology penetrates universities via Muslim Student
Associations. It is not disavowed by Muslims. There is a pattern of
such organizations (or recruiters at mosques) getting hold of
ostensibly Westernized Muslims and turning them into killers. In the
latest example, the student at the university of N. Carolina spent his
whole two years there planning to murder fellow students. He felt he
was wreaking revenge against "the US" for its actions against
Muslims abroad.

Such cases, as well as organized terrorist attacks, have generated
widespread suspicion of Muslims. Muslims denounce such suspicion as
prejudice, but do nothing to try to thwart Islamist activity. Mr.
Pipes ends with his customary plea that the moderate Muslims isolate
and condemn the extremists and organize Muslims into a modern religion
that rejects jihad (NY Sun, 3/14, p.6). They murder uninvolved
people. No excuse for it.

The plea remains largely unheeded. The US government treats Islamist
groups as legitimate. Any moderate ones may be cowed. Most mosques
are controlled by S. Arabia! There is no significant moderate body of
Muslims. Islamism is within Islam, not alien from it. The difference
between terrorists and most other Muslims is that the terrorists act
and the rest sympathize with them. Therefore, Americans should be
suspicious of Muslims as a whole, disregard accusations by Muslims of
prejudice, and cast out the whole lot. We need a Constitutional
amendment that ends automatic citizenship for people born in the US of
non-citizens. The Constitution is abused by illegal aliens and by our
enemies to acquire rights to continue their subversion.

ARE OUR UNIVERSITIES INSANE ASYLUMS?

Portland State U. plans a forum on antisemitism. It appointed a Jewish
antisemite to run it - Michael Lerner of Tikkun Magazine. Mr. Lerner
accuses Jews of causing antisemitism by not largely giving in to the
Arabs who want to dispossess or kill them. He calls the results of
Israeli self-defense as tragic as terrorism against Israel (Prof.
Steven Plaut, 3/13).

Lerner calls himself a rabbi, but composes Passover prayers with equal
compassion for contemporary Arabs, who are the modern Jew-killing
acolytes of the Nazis.

Universities seem to be places where hate-mongering and ignorant
demagogues are invited to lecture, and scholars are driven from the
lectern.
